Forthcoming Artist in Residence 2020/2021

Nigel Helyer (a.k.a. DrSonique) — an internationally prominent sculptor and sound artist, is a contemporary polymath who’s interdisciplinary practice combines art and science to embrace our

social, cultural and physical environments. He brings these concerns together in creative projects that prompt the community to engage with their cultural histories, identity and sense of place; inviting us to examine the abstract conditions of our world and our complex relationships to it.

To be presented mid 2022, Nigel Helyer’s project will create an audio-portrait of the environment, cultural identity and history of Broken Hill. The project will expand beyond the Gallery context to engage the community in sound and sculptural outcomes.
