The Broken Hill City Art Gallery, Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Health Corporation, and West Darling Arts are proud to support the 2024 Maari Ma Indigenous Art Awards. This prize provides a platform to showcase and celebrate the creativity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists residing in the Maari Ma / West Darling Arts region.

Entries are now open!

The prize is non-acquisitive.

Key Dates:

  • Entries Open: Monday, 26th August 2024

  • Entries Close: Friday, 25th October 2024

  • Artwork Delivery: No later than Friday, 25th October 2024, between 10 am and 4 pm. Artworks are to be delivered to the Broken Hill City Art Gallery.

  • Exhibition Dates: 1st November 2024 – 2nd February 2025

  • Official Opening and Award Announcements: 1st November 2024

 

Awards

Open Art Prize

  • 1st Prize - $5,000

Artwork in any medium on any theme (Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, installation etc.).

Emerging Artist Award

  • $2,000

Nhuungku Prize for Excellence

  • $2,000

*Artists that identify as Female will be automatically eligible for this prize.

Young Artist Prizes

  • Art suplies to the value of $1000 (16 - 21 yrs)
  • Art suplies to the value of $500 (15 yrs and under)

*Artists under the age of 18 will automatically be eligible for the Young Artist Prize.

Peoples Choice Award

  • $2,000

*Artists under the age of 18 will automatically be eligible for the Young Artist Prize.
